At Dragon Deepwater we provide our customers with indepedant third party umbilcal testing, commissioning and integrity managemt services to ensure the quality of the end product. Umbilical Monitoring and Pre-Commissioning services are an integral part of any subsea project. Our Project Managers, Engineers and Technicians are fully trained and qualified to conduct umbilcal testing in accordance with the industry codes and standards. In addition to this our customers sometimes have additional specifications or special requirements to compliment the industry standards which we incorporate into our test procedures when and where applicable.

Electrical

Reliable electrical power and communications are required to monitor and control an array of subsea and subsurface equipment from monitoring well pressures and temperatures downhole, Subsea Control Module (SCM) status, wellhead pressures and temperatures, choke position indicators to early detection of sand and erosion in the pipeline or to simply locate where a pig is in the line. Electrical power and communication cables provide vital control and data transmission during operations. Typically each of these cables are tested for Continuity Resistance (CR), Insulation Resistance (IR) and Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR). Our electrical services encompass the following.

Hydraulic

Hydrualic power is also required to control the mechnical movement of subsea and subsurface equipment from Downole Sleeves, Subsea Christmas Tree (XMT) production and wing valves, Subsea Control Modules (SCMs), Choke and control skids, Manifold valves for flowline alignment to gas lift and water injection applications. The criticality of these components requires that the hydraulic system is leak free and the fluid needs to be clean from particle contamination or moisture. Our hydraulic services are listed below.

     - Proof Pressure Testing

Optical

Optical cables are being used more often these days due to the higher data rates and wider bandwidth that they offer compaired to their copper counterparts. Both Single Mode (SM) and Multi Mode (MM) fibers are being increasingly installed into umbilicals during manufacturing, if not specifically for the current project but for future capacity later in life. Our fully qualified and trained personnel can provide Fiber Splicing, Attenuation and Optical Time Domain Reflectometry Testing.

Chemical

Most subsea umbilcals these days contain a number of chemcial lines to facilitate some sort of chemical injection either at the wellhead or at some specific point in the flowline where it is required. Our engineers have a wealth of knowledge and experience in outlining chemical displacment plans, fluid buffereing, flushing and of course troubelshooting and remediation of plugged umbilicals. Most of the chemicals used in the oil and gas industry are harmful and present a threat to personnel if not contained correctly. At Dragon Deepwater we fully understand the chemicals we use. The Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are always reviewed by engineering for compatability issues, fluid buffering and flushing operations.
